About Helen
I was born and bred in the UK. Having studied French at university I moved to France teaching English in a secondary school after which I travelled to the Netherlands to live, study social pedagogies and work with children. Lifelong hobbies include dance, yoga, music, swimming, writing and walks in nature.
Settling into family life in the Netherlands prompted a more inward bound journey of discovery which eventually led to more exploration and learning during an in-depth psychotherapeutic training supported by Jungian analysis. Gradually I wove my theoretical and experiential learning into therapeutic work with Dutch and English speaking clients.
The journey deepened and I was drawn towards a body orientated approach. After a few Rebalancing sessions I undertook the 3 year Rebalancing training in the Netherlands and was amazed at the rich language of the body and the accompanying overall increased sense of vitality and well being. The MBK (basic medical knowledge) thereafter helps inform this body orientated approach and the practice of Mindfulness (MBSR/MBCT) optimally supports the Mind-Body integration helping root my ongoing personal and professional learning robustly into the present moment. I am currently a student of the NARM (neuro affective relational model).
Therapeutic work experience
As a native English speaker having lived and worked in different countries and with people from different backgrounds, cultures and life stages, I am well aware of the challenges (and opportunities !) change, transitions and diversity can bring.
I have 6 years work experience in a Dutch clinical setting, 1.5 years working in British clinical after care locations and independently supervised work in the Hague and the Bollenstreek since 2010.
My supervised clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression , stress,`burn-out`, grief and loss, relationship issues, youth and adult trauma.
